MatchIt! V1.0 Binary

What is it?

This is a very simple game that everyone should recognize. Though quite playable I am uncertain as to the consistancy of quailty on computers of differing capabilities. Please send me an e-mail about your experience including your computer spec (cpu speed/os/video should be sufficient).

Instructions:

Simply move the arrowkeys to select the desired tile and peek at it with the space bar. Match pairs and try to clear the board.

Oh and if you wish to clear the high scores simply delete file high.sco.

Requirements

MatchIt requires OpenGL to function most versions of windows have at least the software driver installed. If you do not have a 3D accelerated video card I would suggest pressing F3 to turn off the wood textures.

Author's Rant

I decided to write a game I could complete in a short time so here it is. Though it was supposed to be a short experiment it took on a life of its own and forced me to work on it for a few more evenings that I had expected. :) (3 or 4 evenings of coding and past the initial sunday afternoon then many days of playing to work out the scoring) It is quite playable in it's current form however I believe the scoring still needs to be tuned up.

Using the wingdings set allowed me to have ready access to a tile set with little work but did not give me sufficient control over the glyph size. Also I don't think it's entirely fair to have to match all the different clock times. :)

I've though of rewriting it with additional tile meshes and textures as well as custom glyph sets and backgrounds. This would allow for "themed" levels (runes, egypt, space etc.).

The source code is a mess and does not lend itself to upgrades so if I feel like going further I will completely rewrite the code.

I'll release the source code soon. I need to add the boilerplate stuff to the source. If you actually want it sooner lemme know and I'll get on it.
